The meaning behind the stickers…
Okay, here’s a confession. I love stickers. What’s more, I love making stickers. So it was only a matter of time before we found an excuse good enough to make some special conversation starters for this book project.
Conversation starters? Yes! Because each of these stickers has a story.
First off, the “I Believe” stickers.
Unfortunately, there’s a trend in scholarship that doesn’t believe Moses wrote the first four books of the Bible. One of the arguments is that there did not appear to be a language that would have been used by Moses, since the earliest documentation of Hebrew dated to a few centuries later than Moses.
However, recent linguistic findings have shown that there is a precursor to Hebrew called “proto-Hebrew” that shows up on the
stage at around the same times and places that Moses would have lived! Evidence for this early Hebrew script can be seen in the Sinai peninsula and date to the 18th Dynasty and even earlier in Egyptian history, around the time of the Exodus and Joseph stories in the Bible.
This script is undeniable evidence that Moses did have a language to write the Torah — and I believe he did! So if your friends ask you what the yellow squiggles on this sticker mean, now you can tell them! :)
The “promised land” stickers are my husband’s brainchild.
We wanted a sticker that would speak to the adventurous souls, and a spin off the Patagonia logo seemed like a fun idea. We changed the text to “promised land” and the mountain is Sinai instead of patagonia.
So now you know! :)
